San Angelo’s renowned Lily Fest will be Sept. 21.
The eighth annual event, co-sponsored by the city and the Chamber of Commerce, celebrates the city’s International Water Lily Collection at Civic League Park. It will also involve door prizes and live music.
The free event will run from 9:30 a.m. to noon Sept. 21 at the water lily basins at the park, along North Park Street between Harris Avenue and Pecos Street.
Kenneth Landon, curator of the lily collection and the “Indiana Jones of water lilies” will make a presentation, a city news release states. The event will also offer displays by vendors and music by Lori Jo Thomas, who has performed at Nashville’s world-famous Blue Bird Café. Concessions will be sold.
The International Water Lily Collection has a variety of lilies, many of which are hybrids created by Landon.
The collection open free to the public and has flowering displays from April through October.
