DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A 36-year-old man freed this year after being granted a new trial for a 1996 Des Moines homicide has been arrested again.
The Des Moines Register reports (http://dmreg.co/18v7dKM) that a woman told police that she and David Flores argued at his home Wednesday and he hit her in the back. Police Sgt. Jason Halifax says Flores was arrested there. He’s been charged with domestic abuse.
Court records show it was Flores’ third arrest since he was let out of prison. Flores served 16 years for the 1996 shooting death of Phillis Davis before his conviction was overturned. The charges were refiled, but Flores reached a plea deal that kept him from being returned to prison.
Records don’t list the name of Flores’ attorney in the new case.
