ALBERT LEA, Minn. — Family and friends from all over will be hitting the softball fields in Albert Lea this weekend to remember a loved one.

The seventh annual Ryan “Pie” Truesdell memorial softball tournament will be kicking off.

It’s held in memory of Ryan, who died in 2007 when he was trapped in a grain bin in Glenville.

Last year, several teams, seen here, hit the fields for the event.

25 teams will be swinging for the fences in honor of Ryan.

“You know it has a lot to do with who my son was,” Tournament Director Scott Truesdell said. “You know the type of person he was. So, it’s humbling that way as a parent to know this many people show up to support my son.”

He says teams will be coming from the Twin Cities, Austin, Albert Lea and Mason City.

First pitch is scheduled for 9 a.m. tomorrow morning at Snyder fields in Albert Lea.
