ATLANTIC, Iowa (AP) — Residents of Atlantic in southwest Iowa might find fall’s hottest color to be hunter orange.
The Daily Nonpareil in Council Bluffs reports (http://bit.ly/1afXnPc ) that the Atlantic City Council passed an ordinance this week allowing deer hunting within city limits. It’s hoped the change will help reduce the exploding deer population within the town’s borders.
Under the ordinance, the city will reimburse hunters for the cost of their state deer tag for the first doe they kill within city limits.
After killing a doe, hunters will be given documented permission to kill a buck within city limits.
Hunting packets and applications are available at the Atlantic Police Department.
