Minn. ex-coach pleads not guilty to boys’ assault

DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — A former Salvation Army youth basketball coach has pleaded not guilty to charges of sexually assaulting two preteen boys.

A Duluth News Tribune report (http://bit.ly/15HQRT3 ) says 47-year-old Peter Jay Olson is charged with eight felonies, including first-degree criminal sexual assault. He pleaded not guilty Friday.

Prosecutors say Olson sexually assaulted one boy twice and took indecent photographs of him. An amended complaint says he sexually assaulted a second boy and photographed him nude as well.

The complaint says the alleged events happened between 2005 and 2011.

Online court records didn’t list a defense attorney for him Saturday.

Olson coached in the Salvation Army’s Rookie Basketball Association from 1988 until he was fired in November. He coached both boys in the Lake Park Little League.
