MASON CITY, Iowa – The Friends of Mason City Dog Park have been making some big moves to get the dog park up and running.
They held their 2nd Annual Barktober fundraising event on Sunday at Harding Elementary to raise money for various projects within the dog park
The first fundraiser they held raised enough money to complete stage one of the plans for the park but this time around the money will be going toward stage two.
Chairmen of Barktober, Laura Grommesh said that their first fundraiser raised enough money for stage one of the project and now their focusing on their next steps.
“We’ve got a lot of the fundraising done for the primary stuff,” Grommesh said, “so the money we’re raising now is for the extra features that we want to add like a water feature and who knows what else”
Right now work is being done on the fence that will go around the perimeter of the park and they are hoping to open the park to the public sometime this fall.
