MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A 19-year-old Minneapolis woman has died after falling out of a sixth-floor window at a University of Minnesota dormitory.
University police responded to Yudof Hall on the Minneapolis campus just after 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Police said the woman was trying to move from the window to a rooftop area when she fell. A screen had been removed from a window, which was not designed to be an exit.
University spokesman Chuck Tombarge says the fall appeared to be an accident and the woman was not a student at the university.
Her name was not immediately released. Autopsy and toxicology test results are pending. Police say alcohol was found in the dorm room, but it’s not clear if alcohol played a role.
The university is offering counseling for students.
