2nd Granite Falls shooting victim dies

GRANITE FALLS, Minn. (AP) — Officials have confirmed the death of a second person shot in a Granite Falls home last week.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety says the Hennepin County medical examiner’s office Monday confirmed the death of 28-year-old Christopher Panitzke (pah-NIHT’-skee) of Redwood Falls.

Authorities say Panitzke died Sunday of complications from multiple gunshot wounds. He had been hospitalized at HCMC in Minneapolis. His death was ruled a homicide.

Panitzke and his 26-year-old girlfriend, Kara Monson, were shot when someone broke into Monson’s Granite Falls home on Sept. 2. Monson died at the scene.

KMHL Radio (http://bit.ly/1axFY88) reports authorities are still searching for Monson’s former boyfriend in connection with both deaths. Authorities say he may be armed.
