MASON CITY, Iowa – The Boots to Suits program is back at Goodwill Industries in Mason City.
This program is designed to help returning veterans get outfitted for starting a new job or heading to interviews.
Last year the program helped more than 400 veterans in Mason City, but they’re taking things up a notch this year and have big plans for the numbers they’re hoping to reach.
Store manager, Natasha Olekers, said they feel like the program was a great success last year but that there is more of a need they can cater to.
“We want to double what we did last year, we want to be able to get it going and see if we can sustain it. There’s plenty of people out there that needs the help and we just want to help them,” Olekers said.
Veterans who show valid military identification and will receive a thirty dollar credit toward clothes, shoes and accessories in the store.
Olekers said that donations are always needed at their store and that bringing clothes and other items in is a good way for members of the community to be involved and help support this program.
