CLEAR LAKE, Iowa – You might feel lost without your phone, especially if you find yourself in an emergency.
That’s why it’s good to be connected to some sort of telephone.
And because it is “National Lifeline Awareness” week, one local telephone company is reminding everyone what kind of programs they offer statewide.
It’s called the Low-Income Lifeline Assistance Program and it’s meant to help those who may not be able to afford a phone line.
CL Tel in ClearLake has been offering it since 1985 and Tom Lovell, General Manager of CL Tel says it’s a program they see a need for in the area.
“Phone line is really important, especially in emergencies. When people are looking for jobs you have to contact employers, contact number where they can get a hold of you, and just to contact family,” said Lovell.
He also says more than ninety people are signed up with the program in the area.
