Police: Iowa man flips off officer, leads chase

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say a Marshalltown man flipped off a police officer with a hand gesture before leading a car chase.

The Marshalltown Police Department says 31-year-old Tyler Oleson was driving Saturday night when he showed an officer in a squad car an obscene gesture with his middle finger. The officer began to follow Oleson.

The Marshalltown Times-Republican reports (http://bit.ly/17LzOxc ) Oleson is accused of swerving his car toward the squad car. The officer initiated a stop but Oleson eventually took off. Oleson later collided with another squad car.

Police say Oleson left on foot but was subdued by a Taser.

Oleson has been charged with OWI, aggravated assault, second-degree criminal mischief, eluding police and four traffic violations. Court records do not list an attorney.
