DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Gov. Terry Branstad is calling for all flags in the state to fly at half-staff to honor the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Branstad ordered all the flags in Iowa to be lowered Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Flags flown at half-staff include those at the state Capitol, the Capitol complex and other public buildings throughout the state.
Branstad is encouraging businesses and schools to do the same as a sign of respect for the thousands of people killed in the 2001 attacks.
