IONIA, Iowa – the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s office is investigating a car accident that later led to the death of a local high school senior. On Monday, just after 9pm, a 911 call came in about a single motor vehicle rollover accident near 1324 220 Street near Ionia. Law enforcement officers say that 17 year old Alexander Potratz was driving a 2001 Ford F-150 pickup truck eastbound on 220 Street when he lost control of the vehicle and entered the ditch. He was taken to Mercy Medical Center, New Hampton and later transferred to a Rochester hospital. Alex later died of his injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
KIMT NEWS 3- A Nashua-Plainfield football player has died from injuries sustained in a car accident last night.
Alex Potratz passed away in Rochester this morning.
The Nashua-Plainfield principal told KIMT News 3 that he received a call from Potratz’s family this morning.
Potratz was a senior center for the Nashua Plainfield football team.
