AUSTIN, Minn. — It was a day to honor and remember in Austin.
The Veterans of Austin, and community members gathered today at the Veterans Memorial for Patriot Day.
It’s to remember those who lost their lives and their families who were affected by the 9/11 attacks and how that day changed our lives and our nation forever.
“All of a sudden we thought our security was so good,” War Veteran Norm Hecimovich said. “Because, we had oceans separating from the Pacific and the Atlantic. So, we always thought we were safe. We didn’t think terrorists could get on our soil and do such tremendous damage.”
The ceremony also remembered those soldiers and military personnel who paid the ultimate sacrifice while fighting for our freedom.
