ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — ESPN is breaking new ground in Minnesota by carrying a high school football game live that features a top recruit.
Cretin-Derham Hall faces Stillwater in a Suburban East Conference game Friday night in St. Paul. The game is one of 26 prep football contests that ESPN2 will carry this fall and the only one in Minnesota. The prep player attracting the network’s interest is Cretin-Derham Hall defensive end Jashon Cornell. The 16-year-old junior is rated by ESPN as the nation’s top high school football recruit in his class.
The Star Tribune (http://bit.ly/1eJghkh ) says each school will get $1,000 for participating. And dozens of teens will have a chance to play football on a national stage.
