Cedar Rapids man pleads guilty in 2012 homicide

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — Iowa prosecutors have agreed to reduce the charges against a Cedar Rapids man in a 2012 homicide after he pleaded guilty.

KCRG reports (http://bit.ly/17X1SxJ ) 23-year-old Dominque Fisher pleaded guilty Friday to attempted murder, using a weapon to cause a serious injury and failing to pay state drug taxes.

The charges are related to the April 2012 shooting death of 22-year-old Raphael Blackwell.

Assistant Linn County Attorney Jason Burns says he agreed to the deal because some witnesses to the shooting had changed their testimony.

The agreement requires Fisher to serve his sentences consecutively on all three charges. He’ll face up to 40 years in prison when he’s sentenced.
