Davenport man charged in heroin death case

DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — A Davenport man has been arrested and charged with drug and manslaughter counts, accused of selling heroin to another man who died from an overdose.

The Quad-City Times reports (http://bit.ly/1aCew5A) that police arrested 50-year-old Cornel Miller on Thursday. He’s charged with delivery of a controlled substance and involuntary manslaughter.

If convicted of both counts, he faces up to 15 years in prison.

The charges come in the Wednesday night death of 53-year-old Daniel Charles Hansen, of Davenport. Police say he died at a Davenport hospital of an overdose.

Miller is being held in Scott County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond and could not be reached for comment Sunday.
