Iowa man charged in pit bull attack skips court

CLINTON, Iowa (AP) — A man charged in the case of a pit bull attack on another man has failed to show for a court hearing, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

The Clinton Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1aCjUpt) that Ryan Blume was scheduled to appear Thursday for a bench trail on eight citations. Those charges include having a dangerous dog, allowing a dog to run at large, no proof of rabies vaccination and no proof of city license for each of the pit bulls involved in the attack.

A warrant has now been issued for Blume’s arrest for failure to appear in court.

Clinton police say Blume’s pit bulls attacked 31-year-old Benjamin Nave in early July. Nave was hospitalized and underwent several surgeries to both arms.
