DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Flags at the state Capitol and at other public buildings, grounds, and facilities throughout the state will be flown at half-staff on Tuesday to honor a Rockwell City police officer shot and killed last week.
Gov. Terry Branstad issued the order Monday.
Jamie Buenting, a married father of two, was shot during a standoff early Friday in Rockwell City. Police arrested 32-year-old Corey Trott and charged him with murder.
Flags will be at half-staff at state facilities from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The funeral service for Buenting is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at South Central Calhoun Middle School in Rockwell City.
Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds will represent the administration at the funeral.
