PENGILLY, Minn. (AP) — A 62-year-old man driving an all-terrain vehicle has died after colliding with an oversized load on a northern Minnesota highway.
The State Patrol says the patrol was escorting the wide load when the crash happened around 10:30 p.m. Monday on Minnesota 65 south of Pengilly.
According to the patrol, Brian K. Johnson of Maple Plain was driving the ATV southbound on the highway when it collided with the trailer of a northbound semi. The collision happened in the southbound traffic lane.
The Duluth News Tribune (http://bit.ly/19bunoH ) reports the semi was pulling a wide-load trailer carrying the dump box for a mining haul truck. The load had warning lights, flags and signs.
The semi driver apparently was not hurt. The State Patrol is investigating.
