Iowa high court to meet in Fort Dodge

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The Iowa Supreme Court will hear arguments in two cases in Fort Dodge in October.

The court says it will convene in the auditorium at Fort Dodge Middle School at 7 p.m. Oct. 9.

One case to be argued involves a court challenge filed by the Iowa Farm Bureau against the Iowa Environmental Protection Commission. The Farm Bureau claims two of the commissioners improperly voted on the regulation.

The second case involves a juvenile who was charged at age 14 with second-degree sexual abuse and the state wants to continue to hold him as a sexually violent predator under a civil commitment process.

The man, Anthony Geltz is challenging the state’s civil commitment procedure.
