GRANITE FALLS, Minn. (AP) — A west-central Minnesota man is charged with murder in the shooting deaths of his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend.
The Yellow Medicine County prosecutor charged 28-year-old Andrew Dikken (DEE’-kehn) of Granite Falls Wednesday with two counts of second-degree murder.
Dikken turned himself in at the Renville County Sheriff’s Department Tuesday afternoon. Authorities say Dikken was being sought in the deaths of 26-year-old Kara Monson and her 28-year-old boyfriend, Chris Panitzke (pah-NIHT’-skee), of Redwood Falls.
Dikken had been missing since Monson and Pantizke were fatally shot Sept. 2 in Granite Falls. He’s scheduled to make his first court appearance Thursday.
Dikken remains in jail. Monson’s cousin, Eric Monson, tells the West Central Tribune (http://bit.ly/14gOdQT ) the family is relieved Dikken is in custody and that his arrest is one step toward closure.
