NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa (AP) — The eastern Iowa city of North Liberty has hired a longtime member of its police department as the chief.
The city announced Thursday that Mayor Tom Salm had named Diane Venenga the city’s police chief. The North Liberty City Council will vote on the appointment Sept. 24.
Venenga has been serving as interim chief since February and has been with the department for 14 years. She has served as an officer, sergeant and lieutenant before being appointed chief.
North Liberty is a suburb of Iowa City with a population of more than 13,000.
