MASON CITY, Iowa – Students and staff at North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) will get a much needed break from potential president candidate presentations.

The fourth and final candidate met with faculty this morning.

Greg Schmitz, the former president of Hawkeye Community College and the current president of VGM Group in Waterloo, Iowa, visited the campus this afternoon to learn more about where he could potentially be calling home.

“I really believe in the community mission,” he said, “how actively involved we are with the community, certainly with our students but also with business and industry and really it goes toward economic development and quality of life.”

Each candidate met with faculty and staff twice on separate days and now that they have completed this portion of the search, all of the candidates will now be formally interviewed by the decision board.

The decision will be made some time in late October
