Poll: Jersey residents spent less time at shore

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, N.J. (AP) — A new poll has found New Jersey residents spent less time than usual at the shore this summer, many fearing businesses would not have reopened after Superstorm Sandy.

The Monmouth University-Asbury Park Press poll finds nearly 40 percent of respondents spent less time at the shore than they usually do. Nine percent said they made an extra effort to visit more frequently this year.

Nearly half of those who visited less said they were afraid many businesses would not be open. About half said the shore’s recovery is where they expected it to be by now, while 20 percent said it is better than they expected.
