Federal agents spend day in northeast Iowa town

WAUCOMA, Iowa (AP) — Federal agents and Fayette County deputies have spent a day combing through the tiny northeast Iowa town of Waucoma.

The officers searched at least three buildings in or near the town on Wednesday. No arrests have been reported.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Pete Deegan says special agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement joined deputies in executing federal search warrants in Waucoma as part of an ongoing criminal investigation. He declined to specify what crimes were being investigated or provide other information.

The town has around 260 residents.
