Police: Iowa man repeatedly made fake 911 calls

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A Des Moines man has been accused of repeatedly calling emergency dispatchers to report false information.

Des Moines police say 50-year-old John David Fredericks called 911 late Wednesday night to report that several men were shooting guns outside his house.

Police arrived and found no evidence of criminal activity. Fredericks is accused of contacting police again to claim the men were back, but authorities found nothing.

Police say Fredericks called 911 multiple times into the early hours to report similar information. Officers remained outside his home this time, and he eventually met with them. He refused to believe there were no men outside his home.

Des Moines television station KCCI reports (http://bit.ly/19M3Ezb ) Fredericks is charged with 26 counts of falsely claiming an emergency. Court records do not list an attorney.
