ALBERT LEA, Minn. — Voters in Minnesota will not have to leave their house to register to vote.

The state launched a website where residents can do that online.

It can both be used by new voters or those looking to update their existing registration.

Minnesota is the 15th state to add online registration.

Local leaders say it could save precious time when Election Day rolls around.

“It would cut down on any problems that would occur at the polling place,” Freeborn County Auditor-Treasurer Pat Martinson said. “And also, more people have the potential to be pre-registered this way because it is more convenient and so it should cut down on that activity as well at the polling place.”
