Man dies in eastern Iowa ATV accident

BUCHANAN, Iowa (AP) — A 19-year-old Waterloo man has been killed in an accident with an all-terrain vehicle in eastern Iowa.

The Cedar County Sheriff’s Office says Nicholas Herman had been taking down deer stands west of Buchanan and was reported missing around 4 p.m. Sunday when he didn’t make it home when expected.

His truck was soon spotted but his four-wheel ATV was missing. Officers and friends and relatives of Herman began to search the area.

The sheriff’s office says his body was found at the top of a steep incline. It appears the ATV had flipped onto Herman. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
