Iowa woman to plead guilty to vehicular homicide

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — An Iowa City woman is set to plead guilty to vehicular homicide in connection with the death of a friend last year.

Court records show 51-year-old Miranda Lalla will plead guilty at an Oct. 11 hearing in Johnson County District Court. She was scheduled to stand trial Tuesday after multiple delays.

Lalla is accused of running over 44-year-old Pamela Gross, also of Iowa City, with a pickup truck in June 2012. Police reports indicated Lalla and Gross got into a physical fight before the accident, and Lalla had been drinking at a nearby bar.

The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports (http://icp-c.com/19UGGan ) Assistant County Attorney Jude Pannell declined to comment on the case until after sentencing. A message for Lalla’s attorney was not immediately returned Tuesday.
