Police: Agitated man causes Iowa school lockdown

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — A Cedar Rapids elementary school was temporarily placed on lockdown due to an incident involving an agitated man.

The Cedar Rapids Police Department says there was no immediate threat to Cleveland Elementary School, which was put on partial lockdown Tuesday morning.

Police says the department’s Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiation Team were called to the scene of a home that had an agitated man.

The man was identified as 30-year-old Kyle Peterson. He surrendered peacefully without incident and was taken into custody on a signed complaint of domestic abuse. Additional information was not available.
