ALBERT LEA, Minn. — Several southern Minnesota Red Cross offices are closing their doors.
The American Red Cross will be closing its Freeborn County office later this week.
The Freeborn-Mower Chapter will be housed in the Austin office.
Closings are being made by the Red Cross in part to become more efficient and to stretch donations to help more people.
“We determined that really the Austin location was the most convenient for volunteers and clients and that would serve our needs well moving forward,” Southern Minnesota Regional CEO Melanie Tschida said. “So, we made the decision to consolidate between those two offices into the Austin office.”
Offices in Owatonna and New Ulm are also closing.
She adds they don’t expect services to be impacted by these changes.
