Police cite Des Moines bus driver in fatal crash

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Police have issued a citation to the driver of a Des Moines school bus that was involved in a fatal motorcycle crash.

The Des Moines Register reports (http://dmreg.co/19i4NUc ) 73-year-old Marilyn Pottorff was charged with failure to yield. She remains on administrative leave from Des Moines Public Schools.

Police say the crash last month happened at an intersection in northeast Des Moines. The motorcycle rider, 34-year-old Nicholas Edward Neal, collided with the bus after it pulled away from a stop sign. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

About 20 students were on the bus. No one else was injured.
