One year since Gallmeyer death

NASHUA, Iowa – Today marks the one year anniversary of the death of Carl “Kenny” Gallmeyer of Nashua,  a  cold case that city officials including the Mayor, say has not left the minds of those within the community.

As investigations continue to determine what took place that fall day, local law enforcement are working to assure residents of their safety.

Although as one officer puts it, it’s been business as usual in the small town since then.

“There doesn’t seem to be any concern about this subject being out on the loose. The community doesn’t seem to be in fear for their safety. I just get questions about if there are any leads or any further developments in the case,” said Officer Travis Marvin with the Nashua Police Department.

It was back in Gallmeyers home in a remote wooded area of Nashua where authorities found his body motionless during a welfare check.

The cause of death is still unknown to the public but since his discovery the State Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled the case a homicide.

Yet despite the obvious fear of the unknown, authorities say residents have not expressed concern.

“They seem to understand that it was likely an isolated incident and that there aren’t going to be any further issues of that nature,” said Martin.

He was known as “Kenny” to family and friends not to mention those in the community who say he was a caring person.

In respect for the investigation they say that they do not want to comment on this time other than that they truly wish he was with us today.

Investigators say Gallmeyer’s home was burglarized at the time of his murder and that it may be a possible motive.

They still are seeking more information which they hope will lead to a possible arrest.
