MASON CITY, Iowa - In the span of an hour and a half, hundreds and maybe thousands of drivers were exposed to a message of “pro-life” being seen across the country today including Mason City.
Members of North Central Iowa Right to Life gathered along Fourth Street in Mason City to share their message.
It’s part of a nationwide event meant to form a chain of demonstrations from coast to coast including in 20 Iowa cities.
Organizers says the goal is to create a visual statement of solidarity.
“It’s a touchy issue. In certain circumstances people want to believe that abortion is the only option available but what we also promote is that there are other options,” said Pastor Bruce Miller with Messiah Lutheran Church.
This is the first time the chain event has been held in Iowa, though it’s been held on the first Sunday in October in other cities for several years.
Groups are already organizing for the national March for Life event on Washington planned for this coming January.
“We determine that a person is a life and that’s what we promote. We want people to understand that life is in God’s hands not in human’s hands to determine what they want to do with it,” said Miller.
