Minn. town highlights bullying prevention

BLUE EARTH, Minn. (AP) — The southern Minnesota town of Blue Earth has become Orange Earth in support of October’s National Bullying Prevention Month.

Orange is the designated color of bullying prevention. The 25-foot toga on the 55-foot Green Giant statue in Blue Earth turned orange Wednesday in support of bullying prevention.

Student Council students from the Blue Earth School District and area residents also donned orange to show their support.

Oct. 9 marks PACER’s Unity Day, a day within National Bullying Prevention Month to send a message of hope to end bullying in all communities.

The Free Press of Mankato (http://bit.ly/1anBagJ ) reports Blue Earth Mayor Rick Scholtes proclaimed that in October the city will be called Orange Earth.

Blue Earth is encouraging residents to wear orange to mark Unity Day.
