Northern Iowa woman pleads guilty to ID theft

GARNER, Iowa (AP) — A 42-year-old northern Iowa woman has pleaded guilty to stealing the identity of her business partner.

The Mason City Globe Gazette says ( Tina Badker, of Klemme (KLEH’-mee), will be sentenced on Nov. 19 in Hancock County District Court.

Alliant Energy had shut off power to Badker’s residence. Authorities say she knew her business partner had good credit, so she used his Social Security number to try to obtain service in July 2011.

She faces up to five years in prison.
