Estate of Marshalltown couple donates to groups

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (AP) — The estate of a Marshalltown couple has given more than $1 million to a dozen organizations.

The Marshalltown Times-Republican reports ( ) the estate of Verle and Ellen Hunt recently gave $100,000 to a variety of organizations that were important to the couple.

Recipients include the Animal Rescue League, First United Methodist Church, Iowa 4-H Foundation, Mid-Iowa Council of Boy Scouts of America and the Iowa State University Foundation.

Verle Hunt worked at Fisher Controls and Emerson as a design engineer. He designed a number of products.

Ellen Hunt died on April 21, 2012, at age 94, and Verle Hunt died April 6 at age 94.
