Minn. man indicted in mother’s stabbing death

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — A grand jury has indicted a St. Cloud man for first-degree murder in the stabbing death of his mother last month

The Stearns County prosecutor has previously charged 52-year-old Dean Friese (freez) with second-degree murder. A grand jury indictment is required to proceed in court with first-degree murder charges in Minnesota.

Friese is accused of killing his mother, Lois Arlene Omeara, on Sept. 14 at the apartment complex where they lived.

Friese is expected to make his first court appearance on the new charges Thursday. The grand jury also indicted him on one count of second-degree murder.

Court records show Friese has a history of mental illness that includes multiple civil commitments.

The St. Cloud Times (http://on.sctimes.com/1aP7tFH ) reports Friese remains in jail with bail set at $3 million.
