IA man arrested, accused of stealing rental bikes

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of using a stolen credit card to steal six rental bikes from downtown Des Moines.

The Des Moines Register reports (http://dmreg.co/16iBbWm) that Tommy Lee Goines, of Saylor Township, was charged Friday with two counts of second-degree theft and one count of false use of a credit card.

Police say officers caught Goines riding a rental bike Friday that had been reported stolen.

Carl Voss, the owner of the Des Moines Bicycle Collective, told police Wednesday that the six bicycles were rented between Monday and Wednesday and never returned.

All of the bikes had been returned by Friday evening with minimal damage.
