Dayton aide says governor’s hip procedure complete

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton is recuperating following a procedure at the Mayo Clinic meant to relieve pain in his hip.

An aide in the governor’s office reported just after noon Wednesday that the procedure was complete and went well. Dayton was not sedated while doctors did the platelet rich plasma injection. Dayton planned to return to St. Paul later in the day.

The 66-year-old governor expects to need two weeks before he returns to an active public schedule. During that period he intends to hold meetings and do other work from the Summit Avenue governor’s residence.

Dayton had been experiencing pain since tearing a hip muscle last summer.
