Des Moines suburb moves toward limiting pets

PLEASANT HILL, Iowa (AP) — The Pleasant Hill City Council is moving toward limiting the number of pets residents can have at one time.

The Des Moines Register says ( ) the proposal approved at its first reading Tuesday would put the maximum at four cats or dogs or a combination. The ordinance requires three readings and approvals before taking effect.

City Manager Don Sandor says a provision that will be added in the second reading would exempt foster animals from the limit.

Properties zoned agricultural in the Des Moines suburb wouldn’t be subject to the limit.
