Trial of 2 charged in robbery death set to begin

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The trial of two people charged in the death of a Des Moines man is scheduled to begin in Polk County.

The Des Moines Register reports (http://dmreg.co/1dDJm1U ) 46-year-old Spencer Antowyn Pierce and 27-year-old Deanna Marie Hood are charged with first-degree murder and first-degree robbery in the June death of 35-year-old Steve Allen Harmon. Their trial is set to start Monday.

Pierce and Hood are accused of killing Harmon during a robbery. He was found in a parking lot on the city’s north side.

The newspaper reports Pierce and Hood were in Polk County Jail on narcotics charges when they were charged in Harmon’s death. Both remain in custody.

Online court records do not list attorneys for Pierce and Hood.
