DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A man accused of making gun threats inside a Des Moines middle school has made his first court appearance.
Des Moines television station KCCI reports (http://bit.ly/1aU7kPT ) 35-year-old Ryan Collier made an initial appearance Wednesday at a Polk County courtroom. He was quiet as a judge read the charges of first-degree harassment, domestic abuse and interference with official acts.
Collier was arrested Tuesday following a manhunt around Merrill Middle School. He is accused of arguing with his girlfriend inside the school and claiming to have a gun. He was later found hiding under a car.
The incident prompted the middle school and several surrounding schools to be put on lockdown.
Collier remains at the Polk County Jail. Court records do not list an attorney.
