Rybak finds next job at educational nonprofit

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minneapolis Mayor R. T. Rybak says he’s found his next job and will lead an educational nonprofit organization when he leaves office in January.

Rybak has been mayor for 12 years. His successor will be chosen Tuesday.

Rybak told the Star Tribune (http://bit.ly/1aTtsKm ) that he will become executive director of Generation Next, which works to close the racial achievement gap in education.

Rybak says he regrets not getting involved in educational issues earlier in his tenure. The learning gap between whites and minorities has been a key issue in this year’s mayoral race.
