WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — A memorial marker will be placed at Waterloo Memorial Stadium, where a slain Waterloo soldier once played football.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier says (http://bit.ly/1dXQVRg ) Sgt. Eric Steffeney is being honored. The 1994 West High School graduate was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq in February 2005. The father of three was close to finishing his second tour in Iraq with an Army explosives disposal unit.
The memorial will be dedicated in a ceremony on Nov. 9. Steffeney’s sacrifice and service also will be recognized at an assembly at West High.
