Iowa officials use Taser on Tiffin man after chase

TIFFIN, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say they used a Taser on a Tiffin man to stop him from fleeing the scene of a car chase.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says 22-year-old Kurt C. Junge began the car chase Thursday night and it lasted about four blocks.

The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports ( ) Junge eventually stopped his car and tried to run away on foot. Authorities used a Taser on him before they arrested him.

Junge told authorities he had been drinking and smoking marijuana. His blood alcohol content was above the legal limit to drive.

Junge has been charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, eluding police, interference with official acts and failure to obey a stop sign. He remains at the Johnson County Jail. Records do not list an attorney.
