CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — Authorities in eastern Iowa have linked a bar robbery earlier this year to a man who used to work there.
North Liberty police say they arrested 32-year-old Matthew J. McDonald, of Cedar Rapids, on Tuesday following an investigation into the March robbery.
Police say McDonald, who had been recently fired from his job at the bar, lied about his whereabouts on the day of the robbery. His cell phone records also placed him between his home and the bar shortly after the business’ burglary alarm was triggered.
More than $1,000 was taken from the bar, and a police complaint says there were signs of forced entry.
The Iowa City Press-Citizen says (http://icp-c.com/18sqmwm ) McDonald has charged with third-degree burglary. Court records do not list an attorney.
