Fire destroys eastern Iowa home, but no injuries

SWISHER, Iowa (AP) — A fire destroyed an eastern Iowa home, but no injuries were reported.

The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports ( ) that the blaze shortly after midnight on Wednesday gutted the home in Swisher. The building’s sole occupant was outside by the time firefighters arrived on scene. No injuries were reported.

Swisher Fire Chief Mark Espe says a home is a total loss. Fire crews responded from Amana, Norway, Fairfax, Solon, Ely, Tiffin and North Liberty. Espe says the blaze was extinguished within an hour and a half.
