School bus and pickup crash in northwest Iowa

ALTA, Iowa (AP) — A school bus and pickup truck crashed in northwest Iowa.

KTIV in Sioux City reports ( ) that the crash happened around 1 p.m. on Wednesday at a rural intersection northwest of Alta. The Buena Vista County sheriff says the driver of the Aurelia Community School bus, 64-year-old Sharon Reinert of Cherokee, failed to yield the right of way to the truck.

Nine children were aboard the bus, but no one was injured. Neither vehicle could drive away from the accident.

Authorities say charges are pending against the bus driver.
